Wouldn’t it be nice if life were just one big, fun, happy party? Hanging out with friends, laughing and being the life of the party. It’s great isn’t it? Honestly, who wouldn’t rather be there? Because after all, there are lots of things that are way more fun that holding your little child’s hand as they are sick in the late night hours; than sitting at the bedside of a terminally ill relative or friend telling them goodbye. But what about just sitting down and talking with your child about their day and listening to their never-ending “why?” questions? What about spending the day with an elderly friend or relative and learning from their experience and wisdom?
Isn’t that what caring is all about? Being there for others, when there are places you would rather be – places that may seem more “fun”, but their value is minimal in comparison.
