His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. Through these, he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires. II Peter 1:3-4 (NIV).
For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep your from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. II Peter 1:8 (NIV).
Our culture perpetuates a great lie – that we can have all. the. things. No – it’s a lie. We cannot have all the things and give all the things all they need. If we have all the things, some (if not all) of the other things are going to suffer. What we can and do have is all the things we need to make us effective and productive in God’s kingdom if we use them to glorify Him. This is what He has promised us; just like he promised to Adam, and Moses, and Abraham, and so many others hundreds of years before us.
